Our History

Greater Grace Chapel began to formulate in early October of 2016 when Pastor Al Stewart & a group of about 25 friends in Christ felt that “tug” on their hearts to create a fellowship where genuine authenticity & community would be some of the “foundational stones” to building such a Church.  Our mission statement is; Real People, Authentic Grace”.  This all became a reality on November 13th, 2016 when GGC was launched for the very 1st time, holding its 1st service at Waterlick Chapel on Timberlake Rd in Lynchburg, VA. Today we Fellowship at 1301 Greenview Dr, The American Legion Hall in Lynchburg. GGC is styled in the Wesleyan-Arminian view of Holy Scripture, valuing both God's Sovereignty as well as Man's ability to choose. In short, we agree with St. Augustine when he said "In essential's unity, in non-essentials, liberty and in all things charity".

Pastor Al was previously Senior Pastor at Forest Community Church from 2008-2016, he was Pastor of Franklin Congregation in Ct.  prior to coming to Va.

Rev. Stewart hails from the State of Connecticut & holds a Doctorate of Divinity from Adonai International Christian University for his work among Jehovah's Witnesses and LDS (Mormons) as well as a degree in Apologetics from Schofield Grad. Seminary in California.
