Our History

Greater Grace Chapel began to formulate in early October of 2016 when Pastor Al Stewart, Pastor Rob Stream & a group of about 25 friends in Christ felt that “tug” on their hearts to create a fellowship where genuine authenticity & community would be some of the “foundational stones” to building such a Church, thus our mission statement is; Real People, Authentic Grace”.  This all became a reality on November 13th, 2016 when GGC was launched for the very 1st time, holding its 1st service at Waterlick Chapel on Timberlake Rd in Lynchburg, VA. Today we Fellowship at 201 Sweeney Circle in the Knight of Columbus building. GGC is styled in the Wesleyan-Arminian view of Holy Scripture, valuing both God's Sovereignty as well as man's free will. In short, we agree with St. Augustine when he said "In essential's unity, in non-essentials, liberty and in all things charity".

Pastor Al was Senior Pastor at GGC for 5 years. Has has "retired" from GGC and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida to launch a sister church, Greater Grace Chapel - Daytona Beach.

Today, Pastor Rob and Lisa lead our church family. Pastor Rob has served as a youth pastor, worship leader, as well as adult ministries pastor in previous churches. They have a heart to see Greater Grace continue in its distinctive family style and be a group of real people extending authentic grace to the Forest, Lynchburg and surrounding communities.
