Corey is from Smithfield, Pennsylvania, a small town an hour southeast of Pittsburgh. He completed his undergraduate studies at Waynesburg University, where he received a B.S. in Biology (Pre-Med) in 2015. He then completed graduate work at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in 2018. Corey is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree, a Master of Theology (Th.M.) in Biblical Studies, at Liberty University. He hopes to move on to a Ph.D. program and eventually teach others the Bible in a seminary setting.
Rachael is from South Park, Pennsylvania, a town within the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Rachael completed her undergraduate studies at Waynesburg University and received a B.A. in Sociology. She was previously a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in Pittsburgh for three years, but now works for Liberty University Online as a Senior Admissions Consultant.
Corey and Rachael met while studying at Waynesburg University. After four years of dating, they got married on August 17, 2018, and moved to Lynchburg ten days later.
As leaders of the Phos College/Young Adults group, Corey and Rachael hope to create an environment where young Christians can encourage one another in their faith in Jesus and discover what it means to serve Christ in today’s world.
Phos is a group with the explicit intention of helping young adults function as “the light of the world” through the study of Scripture, communal meetings, and actively serving others. Our focus on “light” represents our commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ, including the illuminating knowledge of God’s mercy, grace, and love. We recognize that such a commitment requires walking by the Holy Spirit in forming and maintaining a biblical worldview, behaving in a manner that reflects the image of Jesus Christ, and proclaiming the gospel message.
